As the settlement grew it included the present day towns Belmont, Cambridge, Lincoln, Waltham, Watertown and Weston. In 1859, Belmont was incorporated and named after the estate of John Perkins Cushing.
What Belmont is Known for…
From the time the land was settled and well into the 1900’s Belmont served as a center for agriculture and farming for Boston. Industry was almost solely agriculture until Frederic Tudor, began ice harvesting from Fresh Pond. Once his business became successful, in 1834 he built a railroad from Fresh Pond to his headquarters in Charlestown. This allowed for major trade routes to Boston which allowed Belmont to become the premier provider of agriculture and produce to the city. Until the 1980’s Belmont provided most of Boston’s livestock and produce. Due to this Belmont’s population increased by 90% in the 1920’s and eventually greenhouses were built to support Boston’s food needs.
Now Belmont is primarily a commuter suburb of Boston.

Belmont Family Calls American Alarm After Other Alarm Monitoring Company Fails To Be Responsive
American Alarm takes great care to provide quality craftsmanship and responsive service with every home security system we install and/or monitor. Our Security Command Center has one of the lowest response rates in the industry for alarm monitoring. In less than 20 seconds our trained operators are on the line with the proper authorities insuring that our customers are safe.
Unfortunately a Belmont family found out the hard way that their existing alarm monitoring company wasn’t as responsive. In this case, the fire department was almost at the scene before the alarm monitoring company made contact because the owners’ daughter happened to be home and called the fire department herself. If no one had been home the amount of damage would have been greater than it was.
Since then we have helped this Belmont family by installing a new fire alarm and home security system. They have also opted to have a back-up radio system installed to insure that in the event that their phone line goes down our alarm monitoring professionals will still be able to respond as quickly as possible.
