A customer of ours in Sudbury recently decided to expand and renovate their home. As a result, they needed to extend the coverage of their American Alarm monitored security and fire system. As part of that project, the customer also decided to add some new technology, which until recent years had not generally been feasible for a residential application-closed circuit television (CCTV).
In the past couple of years, CCTV technology has advanced dramatically-costs have dropped and the size of cameras is much reduced, making them unobtrusive for the home setting. Working closely with this customer, we helped design a video system that has camera coverage on the entrances to the home and in the back yard area. The system allows our customer to view the external surroundings of the property from any computer screen or television in the home. The system also can be accessed over the Internet, so family members with the proper code can check in and view the home when they are at work or traveling out of town.
